The Medic vs Mercy

The Medic info:

Height: 6 foot

Weight: 169lbs

Weapons: A variety of Syringe Guns (e.g. Syringe Gun, Crusaders Crossbow etc), A variety of Medi-Guns (e.g. Medi-Gun, Quick Fix etc), A variety of Medical Saws (e.g. Bonesaw, Ubersaw etc)

Strengths: As the only healing class in the TF2 roster Medic’s presence can sometimes be the only thing that ensures victory, Can heal his fellow Mercenaries via his Syringe Guns and Medi-Guns at both long range and close range, Can deliver an Uber Charge which charges overtime to both his fellow Mercenaries and himself to grant temporary complete invincibility, Can slowly heal over time as long as he isn’t harmed during the process, Is the second fastest Mercenary next to the Scout, Is surprisingly an amazing doctor and surgeon despite losing his medical license (kept the Heavy alive whilst conscious during a heart transplant).

Weaknesses: As the healing class Medic’s damage output has a lot to be desired save for his Crusader’s Crossbow and his Saw taunt kills which instant kill if they connect, His Medi-Guns are useless in combat and can only be used to heal others.

Angela Ziegler aka Mercy info:

Height: 5 foot 7

Weight: 119lbs

Weapons: Caduceus Staff, Caduceus Blaster

Strengths: Deemed one of the greatest Doctors in the Overwatch universe, Survived the Omnic Crisis despite being near constantly on the battlefield, Brought Genji back from death’s door and turned him into a Cybernetic Ninja after he was left barely alive by his brother Hanzo, Can heal her team mates from 1hp to full health within seconds with her Caduceus Staff, Quickly fully heals if kept out of a firefight for a few seconds, Can bring a team member back from the dead (used to be her Ultimate and could bring five team members back from the dead), Her Ultimate ability Valkyrie buffs her health, damage and speed as well as a short term ability to fly.

Weaknesses: Easily the slowest class in Overwatch Mercy needs an ally nearby to activate her Wings to allow her to move faster to their location so on her own she’s stuck at a slow walking speed, Made primarily for healing Mercy’s Blaster packs a decent punch but it’s hardly a great Weapon to use on its own, Caduceus Staff is useless in combat aside from being able to be used as a weak melee Weapon.

Battle begin!

“VHERE ARE ZHOSE DUMBKOFFS?!” the Medic exclaimed as he wondered around the map of Upward desperately trying to find any of his team mates. Having lost sight of the Scout when he had turned his attention away for two seconds the Medic then found himself completely alone, unable to find any members of his team and eerily he didn’t run into any enemies either “if zey have abandoned me I zvear…” he growled under his breath before stopping as he heard nearby footsteps.

Unable to tell whether the footsteps came from friend or foe the Medic swapped from his Medi-Gun to his Syringe Gun and backed up against the nearest wall, his finger on the trigger as he readied himself to shoot the moment he saw someone, if they were ally they’d be healed and if enemy they’d be harmed to the situation was win/win in his books.

Taking a deep breath as the footsteps rounded the corner the Medic then spun around and fired wildly, emptying the entire chamber of his Syringe Gun at his target as his eyebrows raised when his target not to be one of his fellow Mercenary’s or a member of the BLU team but a blonde woman.

Crying out with pain as several of the Syringes stuck deep into her right leg and arm Mercy faltered on her feet, the Overwatch Doctor aiming her Blaster as well as she could as she pulled out the Syringes “who are you?! Why are you attacking me?!” she demanded.

“My apologize Fraulein but I do not take chances, I do not know you and you could answer to zhe BLUE team” the Medic stated as he reloaded his Weapon “auf wiedersehen”.

With that the German man opened fire upon Mercy again who quickly ducked back around the corner for cover, her healing factor quickly dealing with the shallow wounds the Syringes had inflicted as she readied her Blaster.
Waiting for the Syringes to stop Mercy then turned the corner and opened fire, hitting the Medic square in the shoulder and chest making him grunt with pain before he exclaimed as another Blaster shot to the wrist forced him to drop his Syringe Gun “Scheisse!” he hissed as he was forced to retreat a few paces, drawing his Crusader’s Crossbow whilst Mercy reloaded her Blaster.

“Where is everyone?” Mercy thought to herself as she immediately fired upon the Medic after reloading, the Doctor having never wanted Genji or Pharah by her side more than that moment, she wasn’t built for all out combat like the others. Luckily for her the Medic looked to be in the same position as her as the Bolt from his Crossbow whizzed passed her head although he looked much less visibly worried than her.

Growing with frustration as another Bolt missed its mark the Medic let out an annoyed grunt swapping his Crossbow for his Bonesaw “I’m going to zaw through your bones!” he barked lunging at Mercy, the blonde trying her best to evade only to get the serrated teeth of the Saw across her left forearm.

Pulling her arm away from the Saw Mercy shot at the Medic again to force him away before swapping to her Caduceus Staff using it to strike him across the face, the weak blow doing just enough damage to make him stumble allowing Mercy to flare the wings on her uniform using them to travel passed the Medic giving herself time for her arm to heal.

As Mercy retreated through the tunnel and out into the open air of Upward the Medic grinned maliciously to himself swapping his Bonesaw for his Ubersaw, his Uber charge having charged up to nearly full charge from his initial Syringe attack on Mercy and from the couple of hits he had landed on her the charge finally ticked up to one hundred percent giving him the option of complete invulnerability.

Smirking to himself the Medic then took chase after Mercy whose new Ultimate ability had reached its full charge as well, the Angelic Doctor flaring her wings as she activated her Valkyrie ability boosting her speed greatly as well as her damage output, her Blaster practically glowing as it also gained infinite ammo in its clip.

The moment the Medic headed out of the tunnel she opened fire upon him making him jump with surprise at the fact that she could now fly, the Medic quickly swapping his Ubersaw for his Crusader Crossbow firing back at her.

As several of her Blaster shots rained down upon him the Medic managed to score a couple of shots with his Crossbow, the Bolts doing more damage to her than her Blaster shots did to him as the Doctor began to descend with her Ultimate coming to an end.

Even when her Blaster lost its infinite clip Mercy kept on firing, her shots striking the German man in his arms and shoulders as he swapped back to his Ubersaw and marched towards her with a psychotic grin on his face seemingly ignoring his wounds.

Taking aim at the Medic’s head Mercy pulled the trigger only to gasp in shock as the German man suddenly glowed a metallic red and her Blaster shot bounced straight off of him. “I am zhe Ubermensch!” the Medic cackled as more Blaster fire bounced off of him, his Uber charge lasting long enough for him to reach Mercy, grabbing hold of her with his free hand before driving his Ubersaw straight through her abdomen pinning her to the rock wall behind her.

Coughing up blood as her eyes went wide with shock and pain Mercy dropped her Blaster as the Medic pulled his Saw from her abdomen, blood pouring out as she fell to the dirt as the Medic’s Uber charge ended.

Crouching down next to the dying Doctor the Medic just grinned maliciously at her “I am sorry Fraulein but zat was not medicine” he quipped as Mercy’s vision went black.

Winner: The Medic

Dear god I set Mercy up to her own damn execution.

It’s sad to say that even with her new upcoming buffs in the next Overwatch patch (spoilers if you haven’t looked into the PTR) Mercy just cannot hold up to the Medic as simply he is too powerful of a class for someone like her to go against despite both of them being healers.

Hell it’s the reason why Battle Medic is a genuine popular and effective way to play as the Medic whilst Battle Mercy is barely a thing in the Overwatch player base, the Medic’s much larger Weapon range and his Uber charge just make him too far above Mercy’s level for her to even stand a chance. Hell even her one saving grace in a fight is useless in one on one combat as she cannot resurrect herself from the dead.

So basically Mercy should have begged for mercy.
