Strengths: Possesses twelve special abilities thanks to possession of magical Talismans being that of Dragon (Combustion), Pig (Heat Vision), Rooster (Flight), Ox (Super strength), Rabbit (Super speed), Horse (Extreme healing), Dog (Immortality), Sheep (Astral projection), Snake (Invisibility), Monkey (Animal transformation), Tiger (Control over Yin and Yang) and Rat (Animation of the inanimate), Can summon portals for instant travel, Can summon his Shadow Khan at will, Can breathe Fire naturally without the Dragon Talisman (It only empowers his natural Fire powers), Is an experienced Dark Sorcerer, Has over 900 years of experience, Effortlessly conquered and ruled Ancient China before being beaten and transformed into a Statue, Defeated his son Drago when both were at their peak of power.

Weaknesses: The Talisman’s can be removed from his body via Magic, He requires the Rat Talisman to maintain his true form as without it he returns to Statue form, His arrogance can be his downfall, When beaten cowardice takes over reducing him to making petty offerings and deals to save his life.

Strengths: Aku is the very personification of pure evil literally having broken off from the primal evil deep in space and became his own being, Was the meteor that wiped out the Dinosaurs when he crashed down to Earth millions of years ago, Lied dormant for millions of years until being awoken in the era of Ancient Japan, Effortlessly conquered the world and ruled it for possibly hundreds if not thousands of years (It is never stated just how far into the future he sent Jack), Is a master of Dark Magic and can use it for many offensive purposes (Fire breathing, Laser Vision etc), Can shapeshift into anything he chooses, Is ageless, Does not require any form of nourishment, rest or even oxygen, Can travel through space faster than the speed of light, Can rip holes through the space/time continuum to achieve time travel, Can teleport, Is Telekinetic, Can summon objects out of thin air, Can raise the dead, Can manipulate the weather to a small extent, Effortlessly killed the Scotsman who was the biggest threat to his rule next to Jack (the Scotsman was elderly and wheelchair bound though).

Weaknesses: Aku can be harmed and ultimately destroyed by Divine Magic and Holy Weaponry e.g. Jack’s Sword, Aku’s shapeshifting is limited to his colour scheme and all of his forms contain his three main colours of black, red and green, Aku’s reflection will always show his true form no matter what he has transformed into, Aku seems unable to bring himself to harm children preferring to try to bring them to his side via words and lies rather than force.

“WORTHLESS!!!”

“IDIOTIC!”

“NEVERENDING CEASELESS ENDLESS WASTE OF MY TIME!!!!” Aku roared as yet another Bounty Hunter squad was effortlessly beaten and dispatched by Samurai Jack, the Dictator letting out another feral cry of frustration smashing the TV screen which displayed the fight before slumping back in his throne.

“Is there NO ONE in this world that can put down that Samurai? Even in this timeline?!” he exclaimed as he rubbed his eyes in frustration before suddenly stopping when an idea came to him “wait, if I can’t find one capable in this timeline I’ll just search in another!” he declared before raking his Claws through the air to cut a hole through the space/time continuum, the Demon Lord then casually reaching in and searching around as if he was going through a cupboard “hmmm, let me see…nope that’s won’t do…nope…no…nada…AH HAH!!!” he then shouted pulling his arm back out.

(China, early 2000’s)

“Got any threes?” Chow asked as he sat at a table alongside Finn and Ratso at Valmont’s base, the three of them playing Go Fish to pass the time.

“Uhhh, Go Fish” the dense henchman stated after carefully reading his cards a few times to make sure that he didn’t have any, his low droning tone drawing a hiss annoyance from the sentient Dragon Statue that resided on the wall a few metres away.

“Imbeciles” Shendu hissed, his jewel eyes glowing red with rising frustration “if you worthless morons knew what was good for you you’d waste less time and would go out in search of the Talismans!” he barked only to stop when Aku’s portal appeared in front of him and the Demon’s long jet black arm reached through to wrap its long spindly fingers around Shendu’s form “what? What’s this?! Hey! Stop this you fools! Assist me! Help me you worthless…!” he exclaimed before being wrenched from the wall and dragged through the portal to which it closed disappearing from that timeline.

As their Demonic Boss was wrenched out of their timeline Finn, Chow and Ratso could only stare slack jawed in shock, none of them speaking until finally Ratso asked “so….do we tell the Boss about this?”.

(Aku’s future)

Pulling Shendu through the portal Aku set the Dragon Statue on the floor eyeing him suspiciously “strange, I had expected you to be bigger…and you know…able to move” Aku commented as he summoned a book to his hand and placed a small pair of reading glasses to his eyes, flicking through the book he stopped when the image of the Dragon came to the pages “ah you are…Shendu, Great Dragon Demon of the East, conquered ancient China and ruled for many years before being defeated and trapped in statue form, well that sucks”.

“What is the meaning of this?! Where have you brought me?!” Shendu demanded prompting Aku to snap the book shut and incinerate it into ashes.

Clearing his throat Aku then stood up from his throne to tower imposingly over Shendu “I am the great Aku, lord and master of this world and I have a proposition for you”.

“A proposition? You…steal me away to some far off land and now you want something from me? How in what way do I benefit from this?” Shendu spat in response.

“Help me deal with a little problem and I will grant you anything you desire, nothing is outside my grasp”.

That gave the Dragon Statue pause “anything I desire? Alright I’ll humour you, if I were to agree to this there is no way I can make good on my end of the bargain, you said it yourself, I’m trapped as a Statue and without the Talismans I am forever trapped in this form”.

Stroking his flaming beard Aku just nodded before raising a hand and clenching it, a bright light emitting from the clenched fingers before he reopened it revealing twelve stone Talismans “you mean these Talismans?” the Demon Lord asked as he proceeded to place each one in its intended slot in Shendu’s Statue form.

“What? How did you?”.

“Nothing is outside my grasp” Aku repeated placing the final Talisman into its slot, the Rat Talisman activating immediately prompting Shendu’s form to glow brightly, the Dragon letting out a victorious roar as once again he could finally move, the spiralling form of the Statue unwinding freeing his arms and legs until he was able to stand once again at his grand twenty foot height.

“I…WALK…AGAIN!!!!” Shendu bellowed flexing his massive arms as he let out a stream of flames into the air, Aku rolling his eyes and summoning a watch to check as he waited for the Dragon to finish his little celebration.

“Yes, yes you walk again, blah blah blah, now to the matter at hand, I have granted you the means to complete the task I have for you so now all you have to do is destroy Samurai Jack and I will grant you anything you desire” the Demon stated as Shendu flexed his Claws.

“Yeah, about that” Shendu started having something much different in mind “I’ve never been one to follow orders” he then started turning around and activating the Pig Talisman to fire Heat Beams from his eyes at Aku, the Demon Lord simply warping his body making two holes for the Beams to pass through as he scowled down at the Dragon.

“You simply cannot get the help these days” he sighed before blasting the Dragon with his own Heat Beams from his eyes, the much larger blast hitting the Dragon enveloping him with energy before exploding filling a good portion of the area with acrid smoke “onto the next one I suppose” Aku then grumbled preparing to open another portal.

That was until Shendu came marching out of the smoke cloud barely fazed by the blast, what scuff marks covered his body quickly healing thanks to the Horse Talisman “nice try but you have sealed my own immortality, now your world will be mine!” the Dragon roared bellowing Flames at Aku who blocked them with an open palm.

“We’ll see about that!” Aku snapped back as he then swiped at Shendu, hitting the Dragon with a backhand sending him crashing through the wall of his tower and down several hundred stories to the ground below.

Crashing down hard Shendu’s body cracked the earth as he landed, the Dog Talisman allowing him to take the hard landing without damage as the Dragon rose up to his feet whilst Aku’s form shifted down the tower to reform in front of him towering over Shendu as he glared Daggers down at him.

Raising his fist Aku then brought it down to smash Shendu only for the Dragon to point at him and simply command “Dog!” to which a blue beam of light shot from his finger and struck Aku, the Monkey Talisman having activated converting the Demon Lord down to a canine form before he could hit Shendu.

Blinking a couple of times Aku then scowled as he shifted back to his original form, Shendu looking at him with confusion before blasting him with the Monkey Talisman again “Mouse! Mule! Swine!” he command transforming Aku into the corresponding animal only for the Demon Lord to shape shift back to normal immediately afterwards.

“You think you can change the form of the Shapeshifting Master of Darkness?!” Aku roared bringing his hand down upon Shendu who used his Ox Talisman to augment his strength to hold off the massive hand.

Shoving Aku’s hand back to give himself room to move Shendu then punched the Demon Lord hard in the palm punching a hole clean through his hand making Aku exclaim in discomfort. As Aku flinched Shendu then utilized the Rabbit Talisman to increase his speed to blinding levels, moving as a blur to strike Aku in the ‘stomach’ punching a hole straight through his body making him double over with a grunt.

Following up the blow to Aku’s stomach Shendu used the Rooster Talisman to take to the air delivering a punch straight to the Demon Lords jaw, striking it with enough force that it split his head clean him half from the bottom upwards, both sides of his skull falling sideways as Aku then rose up and staggered slightly.

What damage the Dragon had inflicted however quickly healed as the holes and wounds on Aku closed up seconds later leaving the Shogun of Sorrow cackling maniacally “foolish imbecile! You think such petty blows could harm me…hey where’d you go?” Aku then asked as Shendu utilized the Snake Talisman to become completely invisible.

As Aku glanced around trying to catch sight of the Dragon Shendu leapt high in the air before turning visible again, bringing down both fists on the back of Aku’s head sending the Shogun of Sorrow face down in the down to which the Dragon landed hard on the back of his skull.

Brandishing his Claws Shendu then began raking them at Aku’s head tearing off chunks of black mass from the Demon Lords skull but whatever he tore off was quickly replaced as Aku picked himself up cackling again “fooooolllllll!!!!” the Shogun drawled as several jet black tendrils then shot out of Aku’s back and wrapped around Shendu, dragging the Dragon through Aku’s body until he was held in front of him with the tendrils wrapped tight around his body cocooning him.

Preparing to berate and mock the Dragon again for attacking him Aku exclaimed in pain again as Shendu blasted him with Heat Beam eyes again, the blast singing off two of his horns which swiftly grew back as the Demon Lord blasted Shendu back with his own Heat Beams, sending the Dragon crashing back down into the dirt.

Like before however Shendu simply walked out of the blast crater no worse for wear, the Horse and Dog Talismans allowing him to soak up the damage like it was nothing “it seems that we are at an impasse” Shendu stated as Aku towered over him again “that is unless you can’t heal forever!” he then barked blasting Aku with both Heat Beam eyes and Combustion breath which the Shogun held back with an open palm.

Whilst Shendu was preoccupied with attacking Aku however the Dragon failed to notice the small tendrils creeping along the ground towards him until they had reached him, the Dragon stopping his attack to swat and Claw at them as they climbed up his body and reached his face making him roar in annoyance as they forced their way into his mouth and nostrils.

Clawing at his face Shendu then exhaled Flames to burn away the tendrils before huffing smoke “you are starting to truly annoy me” he hissed as Aku just grinned down at him “you have sealed your own fate, even if I didn’t have all of my Talismans the fact that you have granted me the Dog had ensured me complete immortality!”.

“You mean that Dog Talisman?” the Shogun of Sorrow pointed out as Shendu felt something moving in his abdomen, the Dragon looking down to which his eyes opened with shock at the sight of the Dog Talisman being pulled out of his body by the same tendrils that had forced their way into his body, what little having survived his Flames having reformed enough to find the power of the Dog and remove it in its Talisman form.

“What are you? No!!!” Shendu roared as the Dog Talisman then shot out of his body, swiping wildly after it until it was lost in Aku’s grasp, the Talisman sinking into his palm and far out of Shendu’s reach making him roar with rage “it is of no matter! Even without immortality I will still destroy you and conquer this world!” he declared before stopping as he felt more movement from his abdomen looking down to see the Rabbit Talisman being forced out of his body.

Using the chance whilst Shendu was distracted Aku shrunk down to the Dragon’s size donning a more humanoid form before rushing at him and striking him hard across the face, leaving more tendrils behind after the punch which forced their way inside of Shendu making him roar and thrash his head, his steps beginning to lumber as the Tiger and Rooster Talismans fell from his body.

Again and again Aku struck as Shendu was rapidly stripped of his Talismans and his powers, the Snake, the Ox, the Horse, the Rooster, all fell from Shendu’s body until finally Aku coated his hand in dark Magic and plunged it straight through the Dragon’s chest and out of his back before drawing it back out, Shendu’s eyes going wider as Aku then opened his hand revealing the Rat Talisman.

“NOOOOOO!!!!!!!” Shendu roared as his body was forcibly contorted back into Statue form, his frame then smashing down the ground to which Aku raised a fist and brought it down shattering Shendu’s petrified body.

From the remains Shendu’s spectral form emerged, a mere fragment of his former self which immediately tried to slip away believing that Aku could not see him. That was until Aku simply grabbed hold of him dragging him back to eye level “ahhh….yes…about me trying to conquer your world….” Shendu laughed nervously “a simple jest that’s all…you understand that right? All is forgiven?”.

Glaring down at Shendu Aku stroked his flaming beard in thought, seeming to actually be mulling his suggestion over until he clenched his fist tighter, utterly destroying Shendu’s spectral form leaving him as just a fading scream in the wind “nah” Aku then stated as he regrew back to his original size “you can’t get the help these days”.

Winner: Aku

Well, this was more of a stomp than I had originally thought.

Now I know what people are thinking, how can Shendu be beaten when he had all the Talismans making him essentially unbeatable? Well it call comes down to Magic, Magic can remove the Talismans from his form and Aku is a being of pure evil energy and Magic so arguably he himself can remove the Talismans from Shendu to strip him of his power and render him vulnerable.

And even when Shendu possessed the Talismans there was little he could do in the way of actually harming Aku who at the very worst considers wounds by non-holy Weaponry to be an annoyance at best, yes Shendu could hurt Aku with his Magic blasts but those kinds of wounds are pittance to Aku who can just heal them over instantly.

Outside of combat Aku proves to be the better villain as well as Shendu only reigned ancient China for a few centuries whilst Aku ruled the world for what could have been thousands of years from ancient Japan to a futuristic time.
