Ganondorf vs Sephiroth

Who is truly gaming's number 1 villain?

Ganondorf info:

Height: 7 foot 6 (Varies with incarnation and transformations)

Weight: 289lbs (Varies with incarnation and transformations)

Weapons: Warlock Blade, Dual Broadswords, Trident

Strengths: The greatest threat to Hyrule, Master Swordsman with both single and dual Blades as well as having great skill in Staff like weapons, Master of Dark Magic, Levitation, Teleportation, Can transform into Ganon (his more powerful Beast form), Can create Shields of Dark Magic, Can inflict curses, Can drain and imbue power as he sees fit, Super strength, Teleportation, Can revive the dead, Resistant to all but holy weaponry, Can defeat all powerful beings like Full Shadow Midna even whilst technically at his weakest, Can summon monsters to do his bidding, Unnatural longevity living for centuries without signs of aging, Can survive what should have been fatal blows thanks to the Triforce of Power, without his piece of the Triforce he is still the greatest threat to Hyrule, with the Triforce of Power he rivals even the Goddesses.

Weaknesses: Overconfidence and arrogance, Quick to give those who defy him his respect always allowing them to stand up upon being knocked down, Severe weakness to holy weaponry, Despite his many strengths Ganondorf is not truly immortal.

Sephiroth info:

Height: 6 foot 1

Weight: 170lbs (roughly)

Weapons: Masamune, a 6-8 foot long Odachi Blade strong enough to cleave through concrete and metal effortlessly

Strengths: Master Swordsman, Flight, Does not need Materia to cast magic, His Limit Break Super Nova is argued by fans to have the potential to destroy the Universe (this has yet to be seen), Can summon Masamune to him at will, Can control the minds of those who possess Jenova Cells in their body, Can transform into Safer-Sephiroth.

Weaknesses: Arrogance, Despite what people claim him to be he is far from immortal.

Battle begin!

Ganondorf’s throne room of his castle was silent as he waited upon his throne, the Gerudo King sat casually resting his chin upon his palm as he awaited Link’s arrival like he had done so many times before in his passed incarnations, for it was his destiny to battle the Hero every time he rose to conquer Hyrule, it was his legend.

The silence was soon broken however by the sound of echoing footsteps coming from behind the doorway to the throne room and before Ganondorf could even open his eyes the doors were swung over casting a powerful gale through the room. Opening his eyes the Gerudo was surprised to find that it wasn’t Link striding towards his throne but another figure, one with long flowing silver hair and a long black robe like coat, upon his back was not the Master Sword but instead a long thin Katana like Blade surprising Ganondorf wondering how someone not blessed by the Goddesses managed to get through his domain.

“And who might you be to be so bold as to intrude upon my abode?” the Gerudo King spoke rising from his throne and casually descending the steps in front of his throne to Sephiroth’s level.

At first the one winged Angel didn’t answer, simply sizing the Gerudo up looking up at him as Ganondorf towered over him by easily over a foot more in height “I have heard stories of this land and of three beings blessed by Deities to become that of immortals, I have reason to believe that you are one of those beings” Sephiroth spoke starting to pace from side to side, his arms crossed behind his back showing no fear of Ganondorf “in my search for true Godhood I have used the Lifestream to its full potential but now I need more and I believe it would be in our best interests if you comply and relent your claim to immortality to me”.

Staring down at Sephiroth for a few moments more Ganondorf then threw his head back with thunderous laughter, his mirth echoing throughout the throne room even making the huge windows rattle in their frames. “You are a bold one, I like that” Ganondorf complimented when his laughter stopped “but even if I were able to part with the Triforce of Power I would not relinquish it willingly, why should I end my conquest to Godhood to simply aid yours?” he asked as his piece of the Triforce glowed upon his hand, lighting up as if on command upon mention of its existence.

Eyeing the glowing mark upon Ganondorf’s right hand Sephiroth sighed “then it appears I must claim it by force”.

The split second his sentence ended Sephiroth made his move, rushing forward with speed unreadable by mortal eyes and within the same second he stood in front of Ganondorf, his weapon drawn and now impaled straight through the Gerudo King’s chest and out his back.

As only silence came from Ganondorf Sephiroth was confident that he had ended the King before he could move, his confidence quickly waning however when another boisterous laugh erupted from the Gerudo’s chest “your Sword is a fine Blade indeed” Ganondorf stated seemingly completely unfazed by the fact that he had just been stabbed clean through the chest “but it is no Sword of Evil’s Bane” he continued before suddenly slugging the one winged Angel hard in the gut, sending Sephiroth flying across the room leaving Masamune buried in his chest.

Staring in shock as he extended his wing to halt himself Sephiroth watched as Ganondorf then slowly pulled Masamune from his body, the Gerudo showing barely any signs of discomfort as he did so “take your weapon, stand and fight, you have earned the right to die on your feet” Ganondorf declared throwing Masamune to Sephiroth as he summoned his Trident from thin air to his hand.

Dissipating and summoning Masamune to him Sephiroth righted himself and set his stance ready to fight, his cold eyes glaring at Ganondorf’s fiery ones as the King of Evil swung his Trident around casually. Like before Sephiroth made the first move again lunging forward with a downward swing of Masamune only for Ganondorf to block it with his Trident, trapping the Blade between its prongs to halt its slash “Thundaga” Sephiroth then breathed summoning the powerful Lightening Spell from his left hand and sending it straight at the Gerudo King.

As the Spell hit him Ganondorf recoiled from the hit, the Lightening running along his Armour as he backpedalled a few steps. Extending his wing Sephiroth then took to the air soaring high above the Gerudo king “Blizzaga” he then uttered waving his hand down at Ganondorf summoning huge shards of Ice out of the ground completely freezing the throne room and Ganondorf as the Ice enclosed around him.

The Ice did nothing to stop the Gerudo King though as it was quickly shattered, Ganondorf taking to the air as well using his Dark Magic to levitate up to Sephiroth’s level. Casting his left arm at Sephiroth Ganondorf sent a barrage of Dark Magic projectiles at the one winged Angel to which he withstood the attack, simply shielding his face with his arm before recoiling as Ganondorf hurled his Trident at the Angel scoring him in the shoulder. As Sephiroth recoiled Ganondorf disappeared from sight reappearing behind the Angel summoning his Warlock Blade to his hand, swinging the Sword down only for Sephiroth to intercept the hit blocking with Masamune.

Holding Ganondorf back with one straining hand Sephiroth waved his left in the Gerudo’s face “Sleepra” he muttered attempting to put Ganondorf to sleep in hopes of making it an easy kill only for the Spell to have no effect on the King of Evil.

Cackling at the attempt Ganondorf backhanded Sephiroth away before swinging at him again with his Blade to which Sephiroth evaded dropping quickly to the floor “an impressive attempt I must admit” the Gerudo grinned “but it’s nothing but child’s play to me” he added before sending another barrage of Dark Magic at the Angel.

“MBarrier!” Sephiroth casted in response to Ganondorf’s attack creating a Shield that took the majority of the Dark Magic barrage, the Spell dissipating before the barrage ended causing the Angel to take the last few shots of it. “Thundaga!” he then shouted casting another powerful blast of Lightening at Ganondorf who simply teleported out of the way, appearing right in front of Sephiroth to bury his Warlock Blade straight into the one winged Angel’s shoulder.

Gritting his teeth as the foul Blade dug through his shoulder pad and into his flesh Sephiroth blasted Ganondorf away with a Tornado before casting Cure upon himself to heal his wound. Looking up the Angel growled as he found the Tornado had barely scratched the Gerudo King who was rushing towards him again, his face still twisted with the same arrogant grin “enough!” Sephiroth declared taking to the air again causing Ganondorf to miss the Sword swing. Sheathing Masamune Sephiroth then began to glow in a bright ethereal light deciding that his human form wasn’t what was needed to take his victory.

As the throne room was filled with the blinding light Ganondorf shielded his eyes with his free hand, his grin never leaving his face as he was more curious as to what Sephiroth was doing than worried. After about a minute the light died down and when Ganondorf looked upon the Angel he found that he no longer took human form, Sephiroth’s lower half now given away for three sets of angelic wings and his right arm having transformed onto a larger jet black wing, his hair free flowing behind him as two glowing halo’s shone at his back.

“So the man takes the image of a deity, I’m not impressed, I will kill you all the same!” Ganondorf declared as his Triforce of Power shone brighter on his hand. Saying nothing Safer Sephiroth simply cast Pale Horse upon the Gerudo as the King of Evil rushed towards him, the Spell slowing him down but did nothing to stop his ascent as Ganondorf swung the Warlock Blade at the one winged Angel, Sephiroth reaching out with his left hand to catch the Sword stopping the attack.

“Heartless Angel” Sephiroth then chanted summoning as small Cherub like image which flew around Ganondorf casting the powerful life draining Spell upon him, the Triforce allowing the Gerudo to resist the majority of it but wasn’t unable to block the entire Spell causing heavy amounts of pain upon the King, pain he hadn’t felt in a long time, not since he had been impaled by the Warlock Blade long ago.

As Ganondorf fell to the floor behind, the Spell having drained his momentum that kept him skyward Sephiroth tossed the Warlock Blade aside before ascending again, blasting through the roof to float high above the Castle “Super Nova” he then cast, summoning an enormous fire ball above his head which seemed to warp the very sky itself, the fields of Hyrule quaking beneath him and the trees trembling as the fire ball grew larger and larger.

Rising back to his feet Ganondorf’s eyes widened at the sight of the Super Nova above him, the heat coming from it baking him in his armour but yet he stood defiant, it would not kill him, he would not let it kill him. Raising his arms as Sephiroth fired the Super Nova Ganondorf created a Shield using his Dark Magic, covering himself as the Castle gave way to the fire ball.

The resulting explosion from the Super Nova’s impact lit up the fields surrounding the Castle to the point that it was blinding from the summit of Death Mountain, the ground quaking and cracking from the fire balls impact sending the monsters that inhabited it fleeing for their lives as the grass ignited setting the fields ablaze.

When the dust eventually settled and the attack ended Sephiroth floated down to inspect the smouldering rubble, confident of his victory but still needing to find some semblance of a corpse to extract the Triforce of Power from. As he inspected the ruins of the Castle though he noticed a large pile of rubble beginning to move, before he could question it a huge shape emerged from under the bricks and mortar, easily thirty feet tall and the mixture of Gerudo and Boar wielding two huge Broadswords.

Ganondorf had become Ganon.

“Impossible!” Sephiroth gasped as Ganon towered over him, raising his weapons high to swing them down at the one winged Angel at a speed that he could just barely dodge, the Blades cleaving through his bottom wings sending the Angel crashing to the ground. “Ultima!” the Angel cast in his defence blasting Ganon with the powerful Spell but yet the resulting explosion only acted to stagger him for a moment allowing the Angel to take to the air again, the Triforce glowing even brighter upon the Geruodo King’s right hand showing how it protected him.

As Sephiroth took to the sky again Ganon swung at him again with speed seemingly unnatural to his size, easily catching the Angel off guard sending him plummeting to the ground “enough of this child’s play!” the Gerudo bellowed lifting one of his cloven hoofs and slamming it down upon Sephiroth before he had the chance to move.

Lifting his foot Ganon smirked as he found Sephiroth had reverted to his human form from the damage he had sustained, the one winged Angel struggling to rise up to his feet as the Gerudo towered over him, it would have been so easy just to stomp on him again and end up but that didn’t seem appropriate.

Using Masamune to help right himself as he forced himself up onto his feet Sephiroth looked over to Ganon to find him reverting back to Ganondorf, the King of Evil simply striding towards him holding his twin Broadswords low. Knowing that he wouldn’t be given a chance to heal Sephiroth cast another Thundaga at the Gerudo before swinging Masamune at him, Ganondorf simply tanking the Lightening and blocking with one of his Swords whilst swinging the other to the side of Sephiroth.

Time seemed to slow down for Sephiroth as he felt his wing being cut from his body, Ganondorf’s Sword cleaving right through it sending a wave of agony through his body. After clipping the Angel’s wing Ganondorf quickly disarmed him with another powerful horizontal slash knocking Masamune from Sephiroth’s hands and cutting through his abdomen at the same time sending him falling to his knees.

As Sephiroth fell Ganondorf smirked down at his downed opponent, simply dropping his Swords before lowering himself to one knee in front of the de-winged Angel “I must say I’m impressed, you last so much longer than the others, to think if it wasn’t for the child you might have been the one blessed by the Goddesses” he complimented looking to the sky for a moment “but no matter, I have decided to be merciful and give you what you desire” he added clenching his right fist making his Triforce glow brighter.

His merciful smile quickly turned to a malicious grin as he then pulled his fist back before slamming it forward straight through Sephiroth’s chest and back, impaling the Angel on his arm. Gasping as his entire chest cavity was destroyed from the punch Sephiroth quickly slipped away, slumping forward upon Ganondorf’s arm making the King of Evil laugh wickedly as he stood up letting the Angel slide off to the ground.

Turning to retrieve his Swords Ganondorf’s gaze then fell upon Masamune, picking it up to inspect the large Katana like Blade “a fine Blade indeed” he commented before hearing footsteps approaching behind him, his smirk turning as his right hand burned signalling that another Triforce was close “so the Hero finally arrives” he greeted turning around to face Link “forgive the mess, now, let’s get started shall we?” he stated brandishing Masamune as if it were his own.

Winner: Ganondorf

Well I’m expecting very mixed responses for this battle so let me explain my reasoning for believing that Ganondorf could defeat Sephiroth. Ganondorf is the King of Evil, born from a curse of pure hatred by the death of Demise who essentially was Hyrule’s equivalent of Satan and along with being born of pure evil Ganondorf was imbued with the power of the Goddess Din granting him the Triforce of Power which raised his already incredible might to god-like levels.

With the Triforce of Power protecting him Ganondorf can only be harmed by very specific things, the Master Sword, the Light Arrows and any weaponry granted holy abilities by a divine Deity and despite being referred to as an Angel Sephiroth is neither divine nor holy. Because of this he has no true way of harming Ganondorf enough to outright kill him, even his Super Nova ability (which can’t outright kill players in his boss fight if they’re high enough level) wouldn't take the Gerudo down.

Ganondorf’s mastery of Swordsmanship and Dark Magic would also put him on par with Sephiroth’s mastery of Materia and Swordsmanship as well so even without the Triforce Ganondorf would be an equal match for Sephiroth.
