Deadliest warriors of all history

Cole vs Haytham Kenway

Cole info:

Height: 5 foot 11

Weight: 124lbs

Weapons: Twin Daggers, Throwing Knives, Chain, Caltrops

Strengths: Arguably the most damage dealing Roque character in the game series, Extremely fast and agile, Can coat his Weapons in poison, Is telepathic, Can alter people’s memories to make himself invisible to them/forget about him or make them forget entire events in their life, Can mimic teleportation by making people momentarily forget where he once was to mask his movements.

Weaknesses: His frail almost skeletal body makes him unable to withstand much damage, Whilst his telepathy is also a strength it is also a weakness as overpowering thoughts or too many thoughts at once can overwhelm him.

Haytham Kenway info:

Height: 6 foot

Weight: 191lbs

Weapons: Bare Hands, Hidden Blades, Sword, Pistol, Smoke Bombs

Strengths: A Grand Master of the Templar Order Haytham is highly trained in combat and assassination with his Sword/Hidden Blades as well as in hand to hand combat, Crack shot with his Pistol, Highly athletic, Possesses Eagle Vision.

Weaknesses: Whilst calm and collected most of the time Haytham can be enraged and forced to make mistakes if his Templar ideals are questioned.

Battle begin!

“Sera was never an agreeable girl

Her tongue spoke tales of rebellion

But she was so fast

And quick with her bow

No one quite knew where she came from”.

Maryden’s song wafted through the tavern as Haytham made his way inside, the Templar brushing the snow off of his shoulders and correcting his hat before scanning his eyes through the crowded tavern to find his target. His attention quickly falling on Maryden identifying her as the target whose music had been inspiring the Assassin Order.

As he moved closer to the minstrel Haytham noticed someone sitting next to her, a vagrant of some sort by his shabby clothes and over all dishevelled appearance and with a second glance he realized that he was looking right at him. His pale glassy eyes seeming to stare straight into his soul before he simply stood up and whispered something in Maryden’s ear, the minstrel immediately stopping her song and making an excuse to leave before scurrying off to the back of the tavern.

Scowling as his first opportunity was lost Haytham turned to leave, she had gone into the back of the tavern so he would just search for a back window or entrance to get to her. Glancing back to check if Maryden had come back out Haytham noticed that the man who had warned her had also disappeared making a plan to deal with him if he got in his way.

As he headed outside and began to walk around the tavern to head to the back entrance Haytham paused as he found the vagrant stood outside facing him “I will not let you harm her” Cole stated simply as he stood near motionless in front of the Templar, his face as blank and unreadable as always.

Despite the two huge Daggers blatantly visible on Cole’s back Haytham didn’t deem him a threat, simply stepping forward to shove passed him expecting him to be all talk, an assumption he believed right when Cole did nothing as he walked passed.

To his shock however as he turned the corner to the back of the tavern Cole was once again in front of him blocking the back entrance “I will not let you harm her” he repeated, firmer this time as he reached back to grasp the hilt of one of his Daggers “you will not hurt her like the others you’ve harmed”.

“You think you know me boy?” Haytham spat back growing incredibly tired of Cole’s interference fast.

“I know everything you’ve done” Cole responded coldly as he went through Haytham’s memories “I know everyone you’ve hurt, everyone you’ve murdered for your perverted sense of peace, you are like every other Templar, hurting others to shape the world to your own liking, uncaring about those you harm”.

“Fine then, have it your way” Haytham sighed unsheathing one of his Hidden Blades and lunging forward with it aiming to stab Cole straight through the heart in one movement. As he moved however Cole suddenly disappeared from sight making Haytham stumble to prevent his Blade from jamming into the wall of the tavern and potentially getting stuck “where did…?” he questioned before hearing movement behind him, turning just in time to avoid a stab from Cole.

Sheathing his Blade Haytham grabbed hold of Cole’s arm using his grip to swing the human Spirit around slamming him against the tavern’s wall before unsheathing his Hidden Blade again. Once again however as he stabbed towards Cole he just simply disappeared from sight causing the Hidden Blade to end up buried in the wood of the wall.

Grunting with annoyance as the Blade got lodged Haytham quickly drew his Pistol with his left hand firing a shot at Cole as he appeared next to him, the bullet skimming Cole’s side forcing him back as Haytham continued to shoot at him until he was able to prise his Hidden Blade from the wall.

Sheathing the Blade Haytham then drew his Sword quickly turning to block another strike from Cole, holding the human Spirit off the Templar then drew a Smoke Bomb throwing at the floor blanketing them both in smoke.

As their vision was blurred Haytham used his Eagle Vision to find Cole in the smoke, lunging forward with his Sword aiming for an easy kill whilst Cole was blinded only for the Roque to effortlessly block with his Daggers. Confused as to how Cole could have seen and reacted to him Haytham struck forward again and again only for the human Spirit to block and parry every single strike.

“He will never see your side”.

Cole’s voice caught Haytham off guard causing him to suffer a slash across the face scarring his cheek “you know you cannot convince him” Cole continued striking forward again to which Haytham barely blocked shunting Cole back causing the Spirit to disappear completely.

“Who?! What are you talking about boy?!” the Templar exclaimed searching around with his Eagle Vision trying to find Cole but he was nowhere to be found.

“A son born of native and invader, born and raised in peace but dragged into chaos, my chaos, chaos I brought here, now he fights on the wrong side, he should be on my side, I can make him see”.

“Connor? What do you know about my son?!”.

“I know nothing, it is you who knows him” Cole replied cryptically from seemingly nowhere leaving Haytham to start getting agitated, his focus slipping allowing a thrown Knife strike him in the side as the smoke began to fade away.

Grunting in pain as the Knife dug in deep Haytham staggered back only to feel a sharp sickening pain in his foot turning to realize that Cole had dropped Poison laced Caltrops around him which were quickly getting to work. Clutching his head as his vision began to swim Haytham took deep breaths to try and focus as much as he could only just barely blocking another strike from Cole.

Back flipping as the Templar shunted him back the human Spirit then threw his chain at Haytham, snagging his arm before harshly pulling to sending his Sword flying out of his grasp, the Weapon sticking in the dirt several metres away forcing Haytham to redrew his Pistol firing another shot.

His vision completely blurred by the poison Haytham missed the shot by a mile firing again and again until his Pistol ran dry as Cole marched towards him, the Roque coating his Daggers in Poison before lashing out at the Templar. The first blow knocking his Pistol from his hand slicing through his wrist whilst the other sent Cole’s left Dagger plunging deep into Haytham’s gut making him gasp silently in pain.

“It didn’t have to come to this” Cole stated almost softly as he eased Haytham down to his knees, slowly pulling his Dagger from the Templars stomach trying to cause as little discomfort as he could “you are proud of him, your son, I’m sure he will grow to be a fine man, he may not carry your cause but I am sure in a way he is proud of you too” he continued as Haytham then slipped away, the Spirit carefully laying him down on his back and closing his eyes.

Giving his fallen enemy a moment to honour him Cole then sheathed his Weapons and headed back into the Tavern to tell Maryden that she was now safe.

Winner: Cole

Another very quick battle of mine that makes me think I should have thought of this match up a little more before cementing it in my schedule. Whilst Haytham is a master Templar and arguably peak human he just doesn’t hold a candle to Cole in anyway safe for raw physical strength.

Whilst he could potentially get the drop on Cole with the use of his Smoke Bombs Cole’s telepathy essentially gives the Spirit a second sight, able to see and read Haytham’s movements the moment he makes them and even with his skill in killing trained Assassin’s Haytham’s skill just doesn’t match up to Cole’s who regularly kills Demons and other beings that make the Assassin’s Haytham kills look pathetic in comparison.

Pretty good, just like always. Bummer about this being another loss for Assassin's Creed, but still worth reading.

Soon, I'll have Connor have his moment to shine on my versus fights, and I already know who he's going to face: Erron Black from Mortal Kombat.

Lastly, I look forward to next time. Kee up the good work. :)
